- A Credible Profession of Faith: We practice regenerate church membership, meaning our membership reflects those who belong to Christ. If you do not yet know Jesus we’d love to talk to you! (Jer. 31:31-34)
- Biblical Baptism: The covenant sign of baptism is only to be applied to those who profess faith & repentance. We recognize baptism by immersion as the only proper mode of baptism. (Acts 2:37-38; 8:12; Rom. 6:3)
- Agreement with our Statement of Faith: We desire to be unified around the truth of scripture.
We find in the New Testament that a numerical record was kept (Acts 2:37-47). Records were kept of widows (1 Timothy 5:3-16), elections were conducted (Acts 6:1-6), discipline was carried out (Matthew 18:15-20; 1 Corinthians 5:1-13; Galatians 6:1), Elders are held accountable for members (Hebrews 13:17), and there was a general awareness of who was committed to the Church (Romans 16:1-16).
The church was keeping track of who belonged and who didn’t belong.
Today, we live in an age of confusion where there are a miriad of beliefs that go by the name Christian, some authentic others heretical. You can be Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Baptist, or Mormon (just to name a few) and claim to be a Christian. Our desire is to clarify what we believe as a church body so that we might be unified around the truth of scripture.
Membership is not a requirement for salvation, but we highly encourage you to make a commitment to a local church. The book of Hebrews tells us to gather regularly with other like minded believers for encouragement and to submit to the leaders God has placed over us (Heb. 3:12-13; 10:25; 13:7,17 ).
The pattern in scripture and the early church is to gather one day out of seven to worship our Lord, Christ Jesus.
Membership is not a permanent commitment and can be ended in a number of ways.
- Admission to a church of like faith and practice
- Church discipline
- Written request
Full agreement with the church’s doctrine is not required for membership. However, we do ask that you take time to understand our beliefs before joining to ensure that our church is a good fit for you. We would also appreciate knowing any areas where you may hold differing views.
